Cheshire won its third state championship in six years under head coach Jim Riccitelli with a 3-1 victory over Guilford in the Division II final at Yale's Ingalls Rink in New Haven.
The teams met three times this season, a 3-3 tie in December and a 4-2 loss for the Rams in February, before Friday night's championship.

After falling behind 1-0 after the first period, Cheshire scored twice in the second with a goal by junior
Tyler Violano on a deflection and the game-winner by freshman
Matt Muzyka on a rebound. Violano added an empty-netter in the third.
The Rams also received outstanding play in goal by junior
Tyler Carbone (19 saves).
"He got better and better as the season went on," Riccitelli said of Carbone. "If there's an MVP of the tournament, Tyler's name has got to be on the top.
"Can't say enough about our players from top to bottom. Great goaltending, we penalty-killed when we had to, we did what we needed to do. We practiced playing six-on-five, they executed and didn't let (Guilford) get set up in the zone."
In Division I,
Fairfield Prep (21-3) shut out St. Joseph (Trumbull) (21-6) 5-0 as

In Division III,

Jack Murphy scored twice.
