Video: Incredible Hail Mary
See the Tennessee play that featured more than your usual Hail Mary.Sometimes it's best to shovel off the important work to someone else.
That's what
Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) player
Camron Johnson chose to do on a Hail Mary pass at the end of the first half Friday.
And it may have produced the best play of the high school football season thus far.
The final pass of the half was a pretty impressive play already, considering the 59-yard heave and a nice move from the Brentwood Academy quarterback to elude a sack. And once the ball was tipped in the air around the 5-yard line, it appeared that no points would come of it.
Then Johnson stepped in.
The original pass was tipped and Johnson was all by himself around the 5. Rather than haul it in and likely get tackled, he used his right hand to do a volleyball-style swat and send the ball right to teammate
Lawrence Segree II in the end zone.
Was it luck, just a total fluke? Check out the video for yourself.
We're inclined to believe that Johnson knew exactly what he was doing, as he saw all the Montgomery Bell Academy defenders crash toward him, and he made quite the perfect tap pass to his teammate.
