Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.) is not the type of high school basketball program that typically leans on freshmen for major production.
Under head coach Sam Duane Jr., the Aztecs have won three consecutive state titles in Arizona and are 107-7 since the start of the 2011-12 season. The program is ranked No. 18 nationally this week by MaxPreps.
That's what makes the early play of frosh phenom
Marvin Bagley III all the more incredible.

Bagley, listed at 6-foot-10 on the Aztec roster, was the talk of the Hoophall West showcase in Scottsdale last weekend. He posted 20 points and five rebounds in a loss against nationally ranked
Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.).
247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer liked what he saw, tweeting, "Can't imagine a better 2018 prospect than Marvin Bagley."
Then there was this quote from Sierra Canyon head coach Tyrone Nichols to
Richard Obert of AZCentral.com:
"(Arizona coach) Sean Miller said he's the best freshman he's seen in 20 years," Nichols told Obert regarding Bagley. "So that's really saying something, because Sean Miller has seen a lot of players."
Bagley closed out December by earning Most Outstanding Player in the VisitMesa.com Arizona Basketball Challenge – Arizona's top holiday tournament. In a matchup with perennial Washington power
Federal Way on the final night of the event, he piled up 30 points and 11 rebounds in a blowout win.
