Eight of Southern California's Top 25 teams were defeated last week, but it shouldn't have been a big surprise. Two of the losses came to nationally ranked squads and three came to squads either in or now in the Top 25.
This week's standing ovation goes to the San Diego Section, which went 3-0 at the Honor Bowl in Oceanside, two of those wins were over Top 25 Southern Section squads. Host Oceanside had little trouble with previous No. 25 Mission Viejo 24-7 and Cathedral Catholic, coming off a humbling loss to nationally-ranked Folsom, fought back to beat previous No. 21 Oaks Christian 28-21.
Read about all the game action, tidbits and see fantastic photos on the Honor Bowl, which featured eight Top 25 teams, here from
Friday and
Saturday.
Big games to watch this week are No. 4 Westlake at No. 6 Long Beach Poly, No. 17 Centennial (Corona) hosting nationally-ranked Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), and No. 3 Alemany (Mission Hills) tackling Narbonne (Harbor City).
