Lake Norman (Mooresville), the top seed in North Carolina's Class 4A state playoffs, has been removed from the postseason according to a report by Langston Wertz Jr. of
The Charlotte Observer.
Wertz Jr. wrote that Wildcats were removed after "the school discovered an ineligible player and reported the violation to the NCHSAA."
The player in question was taking at least some classes off-campus and the school had difficulty in tracking his eligibility, according to Wertz Jr.
Lake Norman (27-1) was set to face Myers Park (Charlotte) in the third round tonight. Myers Park will await the winner of Independence (Charlotte) vs. Chambers (Charlotte) with a state final four berth on the line.
