Here's a look at developments that shaped this week's Top 25:

Michigan State commit Foster Loyer scored a combined 82 points in the last two games of his high school career, despite playing with a slight tear in his meniscus for the last month of the season. The talented guard had 42 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists as Clarkston (Mich.) beat De La Salle Collegiate (Warren, Mich.) 74-40 in the state semifinals and followed that with 40 points and 7 assists in the Wolves'  81-38 title-game win over West Ottawa (Holland, Mich.).

The future Spartan averaged 28 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals per game on the year and won Mr. Basketball and the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Michigan. Loyer led Clarkston to a 96-6 record over his four year career and led the Wolves to their first and second state titles in school history over the past two seasons.

Sierra Canyon wins CIF Open Division championship

Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) and its star-studded talent overpowered a scrappy Sheldon (Sacramento, Calif.) 75-62 to take home the second state title in school history. The Trailblazers used a 19-6 fourth quarter to propel them to their first ever Open Division championship and their second state title in four years. The Trailblazers were paced by talented juniors Cassius Stanley and Scotty Pippen Jr., who had 23 and 21 points, respectively.

Despite their strong finish to the season, the Trailblazers success didn't come without drama this season. The California power was expected to be led by projected top-5 2018 NBA draft pick Marvin Bagley III, who decided to reclassify after last season. They also lost their head coach Ty Nichols, who accumulated 125 wins over five seasons.

Warren Central caps off unbeaten season with comeback win

Warren Central (Indianapolis) finished its undefeated 32-0 season and captured the 4A Indiana state championship with a hard-fought 54-48 win over Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference rival Carmel (Ind.). The Warriors overcame a 20-0 first-half Carmel run, in which they didn't score for over 11 minutes.

Warren Central overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to become the first Indiana boys basketball team to finish undefeated since 2009. They also became the first team to win both the boys and girls state championship in the same year since Oregon-Davis (Hamlet, Ind.) in 2007. Warren Central climbs up to No. 16 in this week's rankings and have steadily climbed, beginning their playoff run unranked.

GEICO Nationals will decide national champion

Seven of the nation's top 12 teams, including the top four compete this week in New York at the GEICO Nationals championship. Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) looks to be the favorite, but Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) all could make a run to the GEICO title. And don't forget La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), Shadow Mountain (Phoenix, Ariz.), Garfield (Seattle) and Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) in the monster bracket.

• University and Shadow Mountain tip off the tournament at noon Thursday in a monster showdown. The matchup will showcase elite juniors Vernon Carey Jr. and Jaelen House in what should be a high scoring thriller.

• Three-time event champions Findlay Prep faces defending event champions La Lumiere at 2 p.m.

• The 4 p.m. game features former NBA all-star Brandon Roy and Garfield taking on Oak Hill Academy in a battle of elite guards highlighted by Keldon Johnson and PJ Fuller.

• The final game favorites No. 1 Montverde Academy against 6A Utah state champions Lone Peak at 6 p.m.

Thursday's games are on ESPNU, while Friday's semifinals will be shown on ESPN2 and Saturday's title game will be at noon on ESPN.
