Pittsburgh, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Central Catholic Vikings! A 21-0 record, a national ranking of 4, and a championship season means the Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard had to make a stop to honor the team.
It was a cold and wet night in Pittsburgh but the Central Catholic Gym was packed with fans ready for a big basketball game against rivals Fox Chapel. The first two quarters the teams played a tight game with a very close score ending the half.
In the lobby the National Guard set-up a table display with the trophy on it and mingled with the crowd. At center court during halftimeCharlie Thompson from MaxPreps was introduced and spoke about the teams outstanding efforts. Then Staff Sgt. Brett Fry took the mic and really got the team and the crowd going reading off some the scores from their great season. Staff Sgt Fry presented the trophy to Coach Terry Totten and the team to a tremendous applause from the crowd.
I have a feeling the Tour of Champions will be back to honor the team next year!
