SUNY Maritime Freshman Jackie Bellisari,
Holy Trinity (Hicksville, N.Y.) Class of 2010,started her college career with a 5th place finish at the Travis Fuller Invitation on the campus of Mass Maritime , running a time of 19:50.This first race put Bellisari right on track on where she wanted to be . Before the season Bellisari want to improve as a runner this season .” I am looking to become a stronger and smarter runner, improve my times, and make friends at maritime.” Bellisari said . With the time of 19:50 Bellisari showed that she is one of the best runners in the Skyline Conference and will be a serious competitor for the conference title.
Bellisari ran her High School Cross Country and Track and field at Holy Trinity in Hicksville, New York. At Holy Trinity Bellisari was the captain of the track team her senior year.
”Jackie was one of the finest runners I have ever coached. She was more than just a runner to me, she was truly a captain. She was able to lead the team and showed the younger girls exactly the right way of doing things.” Said Holy Trinity girls head coach Justin Renna who enjoyed coaching Bellisari and sees big things coming during her college Career,” I look forward to Jackie really taking that next step in college. This will only be her 2nd cross country season ever and I expect her to lead her college team and also be one of the top girls in her conference. She will truly be missed at Holy Trinity.”
At Trinity Bellisari started as a long jumped and in her senior converted into a distance runner her senior season. As a distance runner Bellisari improved on her times every time she raced . Her great running earned her a spot running the 800m on the teams DMR that finished in the top 15 on Long Island. Bellisari enjoyed her time running at Trinity ,” In high school every meet seemed like a highlight, I had personal bests at almost every meet and learning to love cross country. but a big highlight for me was running the 800 leg of a DMR who placed first beating 15 other teams from long island.” Bellisari said.
Bellisari’s great high school career and college start shows that she has what it takes to be a top runner in the Skyline conference .
