Video: MaxPreps Softball Preseason Top 100After suffering at least two early-season losses, four teams that were ranked in the Top 25 in MaxPreps' Preseason Top 100 are not in the season's first Xcellent 25 National Softball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
As a result, four new teams, two ranked lower in the Preseason 100, find themselves ranked in the Top 25. And the Top 10 looks different than it did two weeks ago.
Ranked No. 34 in the Preseason Top 100, Deer Park (Texas) has opened the season 13-0 and takes over the No. 3 spot, previously held by Atascocita, which dropped to No. 12. Oakleaf (Orange Park, Fla.), which is 12-0 as pitchers
Kelsey Sweatt and
Madisyn Davis have limited opponents to just four earned runs, takes over No. 7 after being ranked No. 76 in the preseason.
Also climbing rapidly is Desert Ridge (Mesa, Ariz.) which is in at No. 8 with seven wins during the first week of the season.
The fourth new team to the Top 25 is American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.). The 7-0 Patriots move into the No. 21 spot after their 1-0 win over 9-1 Coral Springs Charter, which hadn't lost since 2014.
