The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association is pleased to announce its selection of Miss Kansas Basketball and Mr. Kansas Basketball.
Miss Kansas Basketball is
Katy Heger of
Hugoton. Mr. Kansas Basketball is
Matt Pile of
Eisenhower (Goddard).
"Katy and Matt represent everything a coach would want in a player and a leader on your team," said Randy Walling, the KBCA executive director. "To be Miss Kansas and Mr. Kansas is a special honor."
Heger and Pile will receive their awards during the KBCA Reception and Awards Ceremony at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 24 in Sams Chapel inside Pioneer Hall at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. In addition to introducing Heger and Pile as Miss and Mr. Basketball, the KBCA will announce its 2017 awards, new Hall of Fame coach and team selections, 2017 coaching awards, and will honor and introduce this year's All-Star players.
"We are very proud to honor two such outstanding young players," Walling added about Heger and Pile. "Both of these young people come from really fine basketball programs, and I know their family, coaches and community are proud of their accomplishments during their careers."
The KBCA will have its All-Star basketball games for the girls at 6 p.m. and the boys at 8:10 p.m. on June 24. Games will be played at Kansas Wesleyan's Mabee Gym. Forty-eight players from across the state will be participating. A final roster will be released soon.
