Two other players featured on the list were the Minnesota Vikings Patrick Peterson and two-time Super Bowl champion Bryant McFadden, who co-host the All Things Covered podcast on CBS Sports. Peterson made the list at No. 7 while McFadden held down the 10th spot.
After seeing the list Peterson and McFadden brought on the five-star prospect from Georgia to talk about being the No. 1 rated cornerback prospect during the 247Sports composite era, why he committed to Florida State, what he is looking forward to during his senior year and much more.
McFadden opened the podcast asking Hunter what does it mean to hold down the No. 1 spot?
"I mean, the ranking don't mean nothing to me, it just a plus, I just like to play football," Hunter said.
When asked to name some players he looks up to, the 2022 Florida State commit said, "I look up to Patrick Peterson, I look up to Marlon Humphrey. Because he always keep a smile on his face no matter what he doing. He just loves playing football. Patrick Peterson is one of the best in the game, so I want to take my talents and try and imitate what he does."
Peterson asked about Hunter's commitment to Florida State nd he told the eight-time Pro Bowler, "It is the coaches, I fell in love with coach (Marcus) Woodson, I was always with him, me and him just had that connection... The defensive scheme fits my athleticism, we like the man (coverage), that is what I want to be known as, a man-cover guy."
Peterson followed up asking Hunter about his expectations entering his senior season, "I want to make sure my teammates get enough offers because these boys really playing. ... And then I want to win a state championship with my team, last year we came up short. This year we're not trying to come up short."
Hunter and Collins Hill begin the 2021 season No. 11 in the
MaxPreps Top 25 and have the talent to win the school's first state title. Last year was the first time the Eagles made the championship game and Hunter leads a slew of key returners.
The Eagles open the season Aug. 21 against Brookwood (Snellville, Ga.) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the final game of the 2021 Corky Kell Classic.
