OAKDALE, Calif. -
Serra (Gardena, Calif.) snapped the 13-game winning streak of
Oakdale (Calif.), with a 42-15 victory on Saturday.
The Cavaliers were up 35-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Marques Rodgers touchdown run in the first quarter.
With the win Serra extended its winning streak to 10 games. SHS defeated the Chargers 27-10 last week.
Rodgers was the top performer for the Gardena school. The senior wide receiver ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
Nikk Ryan made a difference for the Mustangs. The senior ran for one touchdown.
Led by
Adoree' Jackson, the Cavaliers went into the matchup giving up only 13.8 points per game. Oakdale came in surrendering 12.1 points per game this season. OHS struggled against Serra, which came in averaging 34.4 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Oakdale, which notched a 27-24 victory over Clayton Valley in its previous outing.
