The high school football season in Michigan came to a close last weekend with state champions crowned at Ford Field in Detroit.
Belleville was among the winners, beating
Caledonia 35-17 for the Division I title. That victory helped propel the Tigers to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.
One of four schools to finish the season with a perfect 14-0 record, Belleville claimed its second straight state football title. MaxPreps Player of theYear
Bryce Underwood completed 15 of 25 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns and added 149 yards and a score on the ground in the championship game victory.
West Catholic (Grand Rapids) running back
Tim Kloska rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns in the second half to lead the Falcons to a 59-14 triumph over
Negaunee in the Division 6 state title contest. Kloska ended the game with 241 yards on the ground, helping secure a top 10 finish for his program.
