Eleven seniors were selected to the 2011 Alabama Sportswriters Association Super 12 All-State Team released by the ASWA Sunday, Dec. 25.
Headlining the group is Hueytown High School senior quarterback Jameis Winston, who passed for 6,871 yards and 67 touchdowns in his four-year career and rushed for another 2,912 yards and 35 TDs. Also joining Winston, currently a Florida State commitment, on the Super 12 is Daphne High School senior running back T.J. Weldon, who rushed for 2,196 yards on 231 carries with 31 touchdowns on the year. Weldon recently switched his Auburn commitment to the University of Alabama.

Noticeably absent from the Super 12 list were players from juggernauts Prattville and Hoover. The selections were made by the ASWA All-State committee considering players from all classifications in the AHSAA and based on players' high school performances.
The two 6A powers have dominated the Super 12 list for more than a decade. Prattville, a 35-34 winner over Hoover in the 6A state finals at the University of Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium on Dec. 2, placed three players on the Class 6A All-State Team and also had two honorable mentions. Hoover had three players selected to the 6A squad and its coach, Josh Niblett, was named Class 6A player of the year.
The ASWA's Back and Lineman of the Year awards will be announced along with the overall Mr. Football Award at the annual Player of the Year Banquet in Montgomery on Jan. 18. The luncheon is being sponsored by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.

His last two seasons produced 249 tackles, 32 sacks and 106 tackles that resulted in negative yardage. Uncommitted, he has one offer currently from UAB.
Reggie Ragland, Bob Jones (6A): The 6-3, 245-pound linebacker and Alabama commitment led Bob Jones to a 9-1 regular season for the second year in a row.
