Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), No. 2 in MaxPreps’ Xcellent 25 boys basketball rankings, defeated No. 4 Montrose Christian (Rockville, Md.) for the second time this season, 69-63, Friday night at Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Md., before a standing room crowd of 1,500.
The nationally-televised game – played above the rim – was filled with spectacular dunks and blocked shots.
Keith “Tiny” Gallon used his 6-foot-9, 300-pound frame to pace 38-0 Oak Hill with 20 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks, four assists and three dunks. Junior guard Doron Lamb scored 15 points, while senior guard Lamont Jones added 12 points and six assists. Senior forward Glenn Bryant had five blocks and three dunks.

Mouphtaou Yarou (6-10, 250) starred for the losers (20-2) with 24 points and junior Terrence Ross scored 14.
In a key girls game, 6-foot-8 Brittney Griner scored a Texas state tourney record 44 points as Houston Nimitz defeated Pflugerville, 74-47, before a crowd of 8,777 during the Class 5A state semifinals. She also had 17 rebounds and eight blocks. She shot 19-for-21 from the field.
The 37-1 Cougars will play Mansfield Summit (33-4) tonight for the state title at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.
