No. 29 Center Grove (Greenwood) and No. 30 Cathedral (Indianapolis) was the biggest game of the year in Indiana and it lived up to the hype. The Trojans were trailing 13-10 and got a key fourth down stop to get the ball back with just over a minute left at their own 45-yard line. They drove down the field and
Tayven Jackson found
Trenton Veith from 15 yards out with :16 left to go up 17-13. The defense posted back-to-back sacks to finish the night off.
Center Grove heads into the 6A playoffs as the top-seed and finished the regular season 9-0. Despite the loss Cathedral will still be the favorites to win it all in the 5A bracket.
The biggest upset of the night came in the Ohio Division 1 regional quarterfinals as Medina took down the No. 1 seed St. Edward (Lakewood), 35-31. They will face St. Ignatius (Cleveland) next week with a spot in the regional championship on the line.
In that same bracket No. 42 Mentor beat Munroe Falls (Stow) 31-14 and will face Brunswick on Oct. 23.
No. 20 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) had trouble moving the ball all night against Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville) and a muffed punt return in the final seconds led to a 3-0 upset win for the Conquerors to improve to 4-1 on the season.
In the first meeting since 1985, Cedar Hill (Texas) took down No. 36 Aledo (Texas), 27-17. Tennessee-bound quarterback
Kaidon Salter had a monster night accounting for over 350 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. Expect to see the Longhorns in next week's Top 50 rankings.
Highland Park (Dallas) had one of the most impressive wins of the night knocking off No. 35 Rockwall (Texas) a week after they beat Quinn Ewers and Southlake Carroll (Texas). The Scots cruised to a dominant 46-18 victory behind a strong performance from 2021 Hawaii commit
Brayden Schager who finished the night with 315 yards passing to go with five total touchdowns.
After a near three hour lightning delay No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) finally got its 2020 season underway. After trailing 13-6 in the second quarter against TRU Prep Academy (Miami Gardens, Fla.) they scored the final 19 points to start the year 1-0 with a 25-13 win.
No. 17 St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) beat No. 40 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.) for the first time since 2017 with a 33-20 victory to improve to 3-0 on the season.
