21. (23) Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas), 33-5Season complete. Class 5A state champions.
22. (24) Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.), 30-3Season complete. Class AAAAA state champions.
23. (25) Carmel (Ind.), 25-2For the second year in a row the Greyhounds cruised through the regular season with minimal national attention. And for the second year in a row Carmel will play for a state title, this time against a red-hot Indianapolis Cathedral squad Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
24. (13) Long Beach Poly (Calif.), 28-4How does a team that didn't win a section or state title remain in the rankings? The Jackrabbits played 10 games against teams that were ranked by MaxPreps at some point in the season, winning six of those outings. They recorded notable victories over Tennessee AAA champ Southwind, Nebraska Class A champ Omaha Central, Loyola (Los Angeles), MaxPreps Holiday Classic champ Westchester (Los Angeles), Chick-fil-A Classic champ St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) twice and won the Whataburger Tournament in Texas.
25. (NR) New Castle (Pa.), 29-0Given its lack of out-of-area competition, New Castle is admittedly a bit of a mystery. But the Hurricanes are winning by an average margin of 26 points per game and just one team has kept the final margin under 10 points. New Castle meets 2012 Class AAAA runner-up Lower Merion (Ardmore) in the semifinals with a shot to face No. 12 Chester in the championship should the Clippers prevail on the opposite side of the bracket.
Last eight out (in honor of Selection Sunday): Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.),
Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.),
Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.),
DeLaSalle (Minneapolis),
Lake Highland Prep (Orlando),
Norcross (Ga.),
Omaha Central (Neb.),
Southwind (Memphis, Tenn.).
Dropped out: No. 17 last week
Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, Calif.)
