Some major changes in the MaxPreps west region football computer rankings could take place this week with two big games in the Southern Section playoffs.
No. 1 Mater Dei takes on No. 5 Rancho Cucamonga in one Division 1 semifinal while No. 3 St. John Bosco plays No. 4 Centennial in another.
Depending on what happens in those two games, Bishop Gorman, could move up from No. 2 to No. 1, where it resided for most of the first part of the year.
The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Football Computer Rankings, presented by the Army National Guard. The West region consists of teams from Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Utah.
