Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding
performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close
out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state.
Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in
addition to local and state accolades.
Christian Wiggins of
Wayzata (Plymouth) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Minnesota High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-5 senior guard led the Trojans to a 25-4 record and trip to the Class 4A state tournament.
For the season, Wiggins averaged 21.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting over 40 percent from 3-point range.
In a 75-73 loss to Apple Valley in the state quarterfinals, Wiggins poured in a game-high 27 points while connecting on 13 of 14 attempts from the free throw line.
Wiggins became the program's all-time leading scorer this season while guiding Wayzata to its sixth consecutive section title.
Regarded as a top 125 prospect in the Class of 2026 by Rivals, Wiggins signed with Iowa State over offers from Clemson, Creighton, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Iowa and Wisconsin.
