Myles McLaughlin is the new all-time rushing king in Indiana and just the fifth player in high school football history to reach 11,000 career rushing yards. The
Knox senior ran for 408 yards and accounted for six touchdowns Friday night to help his team to a 50-35 victory over
Griffith in the Class 3A sectional semifinals.
McLaughlin brought his career total to 11,004 yards, surpassing the 10,867 yards by former state record-holder Charlie Spegal of
New Palestine.
The 5-foot-10 quarterback came into the contest leading the nation in rushing by over 600 yards with 3,603 on 309 carries with 57 total touchdowns.

Last week, he broke the Indiana single-season rushing record after running 42 times for a season-high 469 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in a 50-21 victory over
Jimtown (Elkhart).
With the Halloween victory, Knox moves to 11-0 on the season and advances to the sectional championship game where it will take on
Mishawaka Marian on Nov. 7.
McLaughlin is within reach of surpassing Ken Hall of Sugar Land (Texas) for third on the all-time rushing list with 11,232 yards in his next contest. However, with a maximum of four more games remaining in the state playoffs, it is unlikely he will surpass Derrick Henry of
Yulee (Fla.) for the most all-time at 12,124 yards.
