MaxPreps/JJHuddle Ohio Boys Soccer Honor Roll: Vote for this week

You vote, you decide...who had Ohio’s best individual performance this past week? Who had the best team performance?
 
MaxPreps and JJHuddle are proud to announce that they will sponsor an athlete of the week and team of the week award in boys soccer during the 2016-2017 school year.

Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each weekly winner will receive awards (bracelets and certificates).

How does it work?

Fans will nominate top performances (send emails to efrantz@maxpreps.com) and nominees will also be selected from those schools that report stats on MaxPreps. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on MaxPreps and JJHuddle every Tuesday and voting will be conducted in a special poll. Voting will cease at noon on Monday. The winners will be announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.

Week 1 Boys Soccer Athlete of the Week nominees

* Nick Harvey, Newark
Had five assists and a goal in an 11-0 win over Licking Valley.

* Elias Garcia, Heritage Christian (Brooklyn)
Had four goals and an assist in a 6-1 win over Fremont Temple Christian.

* Thomas Rink, Maplewood (Cortland)
Scored four goals in an 8-1 win over Mathews.

* Dakota Estep-Browning, Ashland
Had two goals and four assists in an 11-0 win over Liberty-Benton.

* Cooper Bucalo, Badin (Hamilton)
Helped the Rams open 3-0 with seven goals and five assists in wins over Northwest, CHCA and Edgewood.

Week 1 Boys Soccer Team of the Week nominees

* Van Buren
The Black Knights beat Maumee Valley Country Day 6-0 to earn the program’s 200th win.

* Sandy Valley (Magnolia)
Led by Jamon Mccort, who had five goals and an assist, the Cardinals won their first game in program history as an OHSAA varsity team, 7-3 over Tuslaw.

* Bluffton
The Pirates beat Ottoville 6-0 to win the Elida Kick Off Tournament title.

* Sidney
The Yellow Jackets opened the season 3-0 with three straight shutout wins over Indian Lake, West Carrollton and Urbana.

* Mason
The Comets opened the season 3-0 with shutout wins over Springboro, Lebanon and Loveland.
