Washington high school football state championship games in all six classes took place Saturday.
For the third time in four years, the Class 4A champion hails from southwest Washington as Camas (14-0) beat Bothell (11-3) 35-14. The Papermakers also won it in 2016 while rival Union got it done last year.
Camas led Bothell 21-7 at halftime, putting the Cougars on the ropes early as it has throughout the playoffs in wins over Eastmont, Puyallup and Mount Si.
In Class 3A, Eastside Catholic (12-1) beat O'Dea (12-1) 20-12 for its fourth state title in the last six years. O'Dea upset Eastside Catholic 28-6 back on Oct. 11 but the Crusaders turned the tables when it mattered most.
O'Dea is 1-6 in its last seven championship game appearances dating back to 2003. The Fighting Irish beat Rainier Beach in the 2017 title game.
Royal (14-0) continued its dynasty in Class 1A with a 26-22 win over Lynden Christian. The Knights have won the 1A crown four of the last five years and eight times in the 2000s.
Tacoma's Mount Tahoma Stadium served as the host site for the Class 1B and Class 4A Gridiron Classic state championship football games while Harry E. Lang Stadium in Lakewood hosted the Class 2B and Class 1A championship contests. Finalists in Classes 2A and 3A took the field at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup.
Champions in 2018 include Union (Class 4A), Eastside Catholic (Class 3A), Hockinson (Class 2A), Colville (Class 1A), Kalama (Class 2B) and Odessa (Class 1B).
