Sam Darnold, who threw for 3,086 yards and 31 touchdowns (vs. nine interceptions) during a breakout 2016 campaign for the Trojans.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Southern California native hasn't turned 20 yet but will enter the fall as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner.
Darnold played at
San Clemente High School in the Los Angeles area, throwing for 2,985 yards and 39 touchdowns as a senior in 2014. He also ran for 785 yards and 13 scores, helping the Tritons go 12-2.
247Sports had Darnold pegged as a four-star recruit and Top 150 prospect nationally coming out of high school.
