The Legacy Charter Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crooms Academy 79-25 at home. The win was some much needed relief for Legacy Charter as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Legacy Charter was led to victory by Ashlyn Kraus and Mallory Daniels. Kraus scored 33 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Daniels dropped a double-double on 26 points and 21 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Daniels has scored at least 25% of Legacy Charter's points. Brooke Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Crooms Academy saw an underclassman step up: Erin Hassaballah scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Hassaballah scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Fulgencio, who scored nine points.
Legacy Charter's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Crooms Academy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legacy Charter will take on Cornerstone Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. Crooms Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Orangewood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on December 15th. Orangewood Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
