Given Guerin Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Covenant Christian is ranked 192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Guerin Catholic was led to victory by Robert Sorensen and Bryson Cardinal. Sorensen scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Cardinal dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Cardinal is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Murans, who scored six points.
Guerin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Covenant Christian, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Guerin Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th.
