Basketball Recap: Peachtree Academy Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Peachtree Academy duked it out withTrinity Prep on Monday. The Peachtree Academy Panthers came up short against the Trinity Prep Lions, falling 72-46. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in January.

Despite the defeat, Peachtree Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Jackson posted 18 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Rodriguez, who put up seven points and five assists.

Trinity Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gerald Layne, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. What's more, Layne also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Beau Blocker, who had 23 points and three steals.

Peachtree Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Trinity Prep, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Peachtree Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-48 win against Killian Hill Christian on the 10th. As for Trinity Prep, they will head out to square off against Providence Classical Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.
