Avant Garde Academy is 0-2 against Chaminade-Madonna since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Avant Garde Academy Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Chaminade-Madonna Lions at 7:00 p.m. Avant Garde Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked first).
Avant Garde Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 40-14 defeat to Jupiter Christian might stick with them for a while. Avant Garde Academy gained 177 more yards on the day, but it was Jupiter Christian that made the best of use of them.
Avant Garde Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Simuel Wilson IV, who rushed for 229 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and Kendrick Smith who rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown. Smith 's longest rush was for an incredible 99 yards.
Meanwhile, Chaminade-Madonna put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their undefeated season alive. They breezed by Dillard on the road to the tune of 55-20. With Chaminade-Madonna ahead 35-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Chaminade-Madonna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cedrick Bailey led the charge by throwing for 201 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Arwin Jackson, who rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Chaminade-Madonna's win bumped their season record to 7-0 while Avant Garde Academy's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Avant Garde Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Chaminade-Madonna struggles in that department as they've been even better at 156.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Avant Garde Academy was taken down by Chaminade-Madonna 48-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Avant Garde Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
