Worth County came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 82-71 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Worth County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from ASHTON WILLIAMS, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 4 assists. WILLIAMS is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of GRANT JUSTER, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Jeff Davis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was L'earl Conaway, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Conaway has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Malachi Smith, who scored 15 points.
Worth County pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Jeff Davis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worth County will square off against the Packers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colquitt County has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5. As for Jeff Davis, they and the Indians will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dodge County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 728 points over their last ten matches.
