After a string of four wins, the Idea Academy Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 54-31 defeat at the hands of IDEA Edinburg College Prep. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Idea Academy came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while IDEA Edinburg College Prep is ranked 662nd).
Despite the loss, Idea Academy still got an impressive performance from Layla Perez, who scored 18 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. The matchup was Perez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alexa Sepulvda was another key contributor, scoring no points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Idea Academy's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-1. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Idea Academy will be home for the holidays to greet IDEA North Mission at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. IDEA Edinburg College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
