Baseball Game Preview: Andrews Mustangs vs. Greenwood Rangers

Andrews is 9-1 against Greenwood since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Andrews is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Andrews beat Monahans 7-3. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Loboes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Auden Morales looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Andrews let Kayson Luna and Evan Munoz run wild. Luna went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Munoz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Munoz has become a key player for Andrews: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Saldivar, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Andrews kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Greenwood got the win against Fort Stockton on Wednesday by a conclusive 8-2. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Andrews' win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 21-8.

Andrews skirted past Greenwood 5-4 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
