Mater Brighton Lakes Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Davenport on the road and fell 78-24. While losing is never fun, Mater Brighton Lakes Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while Davenport is ranked 213th).
Meanwhile, Four Corners was the victim of a tough 62-36 loss at the hands of Jordan Christian Prep on Thursday. It was the first time this season that Four Corners let down their fans at home.
Despite their loss, Four Corners saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lauren Jorda, who scored six points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Villanueva, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Mater Brighton Lakes Academy dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.4 points per game. As for Four Corners, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6.
Mater Brighton Lakes Academy took a serious blow against Four Corners in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 55-13. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mater Brighton Lakes Academy was down 28-4.
