After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, the Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They managed a 68-62 victory over Varsity Opponent. With that win, Sankofa Freedom Academy brought their scoring average up to 55.5 points per game.
Among those leading the charge was Nasir WIlliams, who scored 29 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Sankofa Freedom Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jasir Henderson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The victory got Sankofa Freedom Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 73-312-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sankofa Freedom Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against John Bartram at 12:00 p.m. on December 7th. As for Varsity Opponent, they will challenge Smoky Valley Home Educators at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
