Holy Redeemer and Lake-Lehman are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Royals will take on the Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Holy Redeemer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Holy Redeemer proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Wyoming Seminary College Prep 4-2. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Holy Redeemer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zachary Schultz, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lake-Lehman waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Hornets as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
Sam Finarelli was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Will Jenkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Conner Smigielski, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Lake-Lehman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lake-Lehman's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Redeemer, their record is now 8-1.
Holy Redeemer skirted past Lake-Lehman 3-2 in their previous matchup on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
