Farmington is 10-0 against West Mesa since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Farmington Scorpions will look to defend their home court against the West Mesa Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Farmington's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while West Mesa has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Farmington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 75-68 victory over Sandia. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Kapiolani Anitielu, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Kjani Anitielu was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
West Mesa lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against La Cueva, falling 65-31. While losing is never fun, West Mesa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while La Cueva is ranked ninth).
Farmington is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. As for West Mesa, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Farmington against West Mesa when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 70-42 win. Will Farmington repeat their success, or does West Mesa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
