The Roanoke Catholic Celtics will be playing at home against the Radford Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Roanoke Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Radford likes a good challenge.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Roanoke Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past North Cross 70-68. The victory was all the more spectacular given Roanoke Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while North Cross is ranked 130th).
Roanoke Catholic found their leader in underclassman Demarcus Brown, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. Brown hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Marcus Pannell was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Radford came up short against Carroll County on Thursday and fell 62-54.
Roanoke Catholic's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Radford, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Roanoke Catholic came up short against Radford when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 64-55. Can Roanoke Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
