The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the Vista Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Rancho Buena Vista sitting on 11 straight wins and Vista on five.
Even though Mt. Carmel scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Rancho Buena Vista still came out on top. Rancho Buena Vista enjoyed a cozy 73-57 win over Mt. Carmel. Given Rancho Buena Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cj Aldrich, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Horn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Vista at home against Mission Vista on Tuesday as the team secured a 71-31 victory.
Rancho Buena Vista pushed their record up to 21-6 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Rancho Buena Vista didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Vista in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 74-68 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rancho Buena Vista since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
