Even though the Pahoa Daggers scored an imposing 66 points on Saturday, the Honoka'a Dragons still came out on top. Honoka'a snuck past Pahoa with a 71-66 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Honoka'a.
Several Daggers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyran Canete, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Canete has scored all season. Kaumuali'i Gancinia was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Honoka'a has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Pahoa, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Honoka'a will challenge Hilo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilo is on a six-game streak of home wins, Honoka'a a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Pahoa, they will head out on the road to take on Kamehameha Hawai'i at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kamehameha Hawai'i is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
