Softball Recap: Cascade Picks Up 15th Consecutive Win

Cascade had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Thursday. They came out on top against the Sweet Home Huskies by a score of 10-7. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-2 victory last Monday.

Taylor Bays was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cassidy Crabtree was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Grace Wright was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Cascade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Cascade's record is now 17-5. As for Sweet Home, they dropped their record down to 13-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cascade will take on Philomath at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.7 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sweet Home, they will face off against Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Cubs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.86 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
