After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rockledge, the Cocoa Tigers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They secured a 51-46 W over Cocoa Beach. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cocoa also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cocoa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyrone Rogers, who scored nine points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Travon Graves, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Cocoa Beach lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jay Matthews. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Max Louis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Cocoa's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Cocoa Beach, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Cocoa on the road again on Wednesday and play against Rockledge at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. Rockledge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cocoa in Florida (Rockledge is ranked 45th, while Cocoa is ranked 468th). As for Cocoa Beach, they will head out on the road to challenge Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eau Gallie has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
