Stafford (Texas) saw its 21-point lead shrink to seven, but hung on to beat
Columbia (West Columbia, Texas) 34-27 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a kick return touchdown by
Chance Cornelious in the first quarter, the Spartans led 28-7 at the half.
Stafford saw its 21-point halftime lead fall to 14 entering the fourth.
With the win SHS extended its winning streak to six games. Stafford defeated Palacios 57-7 last week.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Roughnecks took, 45-21.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Columbia.
Stafford (6-0) goes up against Sweeny in a 3A Region III District 24 game matchup next week, while Columbia (2-4) locks horns with Sweeny also in a 3A Region III District 24 game.
