After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Salpointe Catholic, the Sahuaro Cougars were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 59-50 win over Pueblo. That's another feather in the cap for Sahuaro, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Sahuaro to victory were Ny'Anza Brown and Cassandra Coolidge. Brown scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Coolidge scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Coolidge pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Valdez, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Sahuaro is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Pueblo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sahuaro won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Buena at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for Pueblo, they will head out on the road to face off against Canyon del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
