When it comes to explaining why Oakleaf lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Makiya Trusel. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trusel has scored all season. Shelby Gaines was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for London Jenkins, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists for Fleming Island. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devyn Dudones, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Oakleaf's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Fleming Island, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.
Oakleaf won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Raines at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Fleming Island, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Menendez at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. Menendez presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fleming Island in Florida (Menendez is ranked 120th, while Fleming Island is ranked 267th).
