Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Goleman's 14th in Last 18 Outings

Goleman lost to Marathon last Thursday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Goleman Gators took down the Marathon Dolphins 51-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

Leading Goleman to victory were Frudrias Porter and Jaylon Hall. Porter posted 13 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while Hall went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Porter has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luka Dotres, who earned nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Goleman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marathon only pulled down five offensive boards.

Despite the loss, Marathon had strong showings from Briggs Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards, and Carlos Lezcano, who scored eight points. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in rebounds. Taylor Huff was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Goleman has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Marathon, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-14.

Goleman will look to defend their home court on Monday against Hialeah Gardens at 7:00 p.m. Hialeah Gardens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season. Marathon has already played their next match (against Glades Day), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
