As a matter of fact, Mendon Unity put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Bushnell-Prairie City as they made off with a 22-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Brooke Hickey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Hickey was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
Mendon Unity hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Seymour, falling 17-11. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Abby Coy led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Juliette Benz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Mendon Unity's victory bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Pleasant Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Mendon Unity's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pleasant Hill, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mendon Unity continue to outrun the ball?
