The Eureka Loggers were the 66-55 winner over the McKinleyville Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Eureka took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinleyville on Tuesday. Eureka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Eureka still got an impressive performance from Makai Dennon, who scored seven points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Julian Goodman, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
McKinleyville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Armstrong out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Maher, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Eureka's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for McKinleyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Eureka will head out on the road to take on St. Bernard's at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for McKinleyville, they will be playing at home against Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Del Norte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 842nd, while McKinleyville is ranked 302nd).
