4A Region 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Itawamba Agricultural extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week by beating Okolona, 55-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Indians.
Itawamba Agricultural took down the Chieftains 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ashton Shumpert ran for 196 yards in the win.
Corinth's dynamic duo of Brady Allen and Brice Spence proved tough for Alcorn Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Allen threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns and Spence had 134 yards receiving. Darius Gaines helped Corinth's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.
Amory's Jon David Poss and Devin McIntosh have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Poss has thrown for 998 yards this season, while McIntosh, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 16 catches for 462 yards. The Indians' Charles Moore leads the league in rushing yards with 663.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Itawamba Agricultural takes on second place Corinth. Itawamba Agricultural topped Okolona last week, while the Warriors bested the Bears.
