It was a close one, but on Friday Walker sidestepped Slidell for a 40-38 victory. Slidell can consider this payback for the 7-11 loss they dealt Walker the last time the teams encountered one another.
The contest started off well for Walker, whose offense put up 21 first-half points. Slidell came up with 7 to make it 21-7 heading into the break. Walker almost let the contest get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it. The win bumped their record up to 3-0. The defeat dropped Slidell's record to 1-2.
Walker will stay at home next week against Parkview Baptist at 7:00 PM. Slidell will be staying on the road, facing off against Hammond.
