North Central AA recap Oct. 3, 2012
Beloit extended the longest winning streak in North Central AA this week by beating Ellsworth, 68-10. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Trojans.
Southeast of Saline made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,711 from 9,326. The advance stemmed from a 49-22 victory over Russell last week.
Dylan Walker made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Broncos fell to the Trojans. The 5-foot-7 senior recorded one fumble.
Keenan Breen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Southeast of Saline defeated Russell. He completed six passes for 99 yards and also ran for 216 yards. Breen's favorite target this week was Kayden Besher, who caught one pass for 29 yards.
Alex Baldwin put up the best numbers through the air as David King's team lost to Mitch Gebhardt's team. He finished with a total of one completions for two yards and one touchdown. Baldwin's favorite target this week was David Crawford, who caught one pass for 11 yards.
Sacred Heart's Nick Wuthnow and Tony Chavez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wuthnow has thrown for 619 yards this season, while Chavez, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has seven catches for 255 yards. The Trojans' Breen leads the league in rushing yards with 368.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Southeast of Saline takes on Beloit. The Trojans are currently in third, while Greg Koenig's team is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Southeast of Saline takes on the Trojans. The Trojans have allowed 71 points this season, while Beloit has given up 38. Southeast of Saline allowed 22 points last week as it bested the Broncos.
The Trojans led North Central AA in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on the Bearcats.
