North Lamar is 0-7 against Liberty-Eylau since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Lamar Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty-Eylau Leopards at 7:30 p.m. North Lamar is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, North Lamar was beaten by Pleasant Grove 56-6. While losing is never fun, North Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 555th, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 66th).
Meanwhile, Liberty-Eylau's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 33-21 victory over Pittsburg.
Among those leading the charge was Britain Pipes, who threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
Pleasant Grove's victory bumped their season record to 9-0 while North Lamar's defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. North Lamar has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 258.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty-Eylau struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
North Lamar lost to Liberty-Eylau on the road by a decisive 43-28 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can North Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
