The Southaven Chargers pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxford. That's two games in a row now that Southaven has lost by exactly seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Southaven lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rodarius Donley. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jhordan Shivers, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Southaven has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Oxford, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-10.
Southaven will take on the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (DeSoto Central is ranked 80th, while the Chargers are ranked 73rd). Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
